Each gorilla family has a leading silverback and this will be a tittle main gorillas obtain from the age of about 10-12 years, a gorilla family can have 2 or 3 silverback but you will always have 1 dominant male who makes the rules and virtually is responsible for ensuring family growth meaning his the only male gorilla to mate with the females.
Mountain gorilla babies are very dependent to their mother until the age of about 2 and half to 3 years, when you head out for a gorilla trekking experience you will notice all babies are very close to their mothers.
